Specialist Public Health Nurses/School Nurses
School Nurses have a pivotal role supporting children, young people and their families working across education, social care, other health services and the voluntary sector. They have a key role in prevention, protection, health promotion and early intervention for mental health and wellbeing.
Reaching out to children and young people in schools, in their communities and in the digital space, school nurses have the opportunity to assess a child’s needs holistically and by working collaboratively with others can improve outcomes for children and young people’s mental health and wellbeing. School nurses can offer more targeted work around anxiety and self-harm, for example, taking into account the social and environmental factors that impact on mental health. School nurses work with children aged 5-19 across Derbyshire, including the High Peak and Dales and the Glossop area.

NHS talking therapies
The NHS can support your emotional health and wellbeing in many different ways, including speaking directly to a Talking Therapy service about how you are feeling. Your GP may also be able to help you.
Patients aged 16 or over who are registered with a Derbyshire GP practice and think that they would benefit from a talking therapy can choose from any of these services.
All of these providers offer the National Institute for Health and Care Excellence (NICE) recommended therapies and approaches for common mental health problems such as anxiety and depression. Patients can choose the provider closest to their home, workplace or family; or the service with the shortest waiting times, the widest choice of types of treatment, or the highest recovery or reliable improvement scores.
